The verses on the midtempo opener, “Twisted mind”, would sound at home on Kamelot’s ‘Ghost opera’ CD, and Roy Khan’s reassuring-yet-sinister ‘Mephisto voice’ starts proceedings in an unexpected fashion before the song bursts into a huge chorus that is actually quite similar to “Sacrifice”, one of the better songs on Edguy’s disappointing ‘Rocket ride’ CD. There are an assortment of guests on display here, as on the first Metal Opera albums, but this time we aren’t just restricted to vocalists from the Power Metal genre – we have Bob Catley’s light, soothing croon, Alice Cooper’s grating monotonal drawl and Amanda Somerville’s angelic, soaring voice, with the esteemed Rudolph Schenker adding a few delightfully classic guitar solos alongside Sammet’s usual picks of Kai Hansen and Henjo Richter. Which is he – a rock or a pop artist? Tobias Sammet needs to make his bloody mind up. Don’t waste your money on this, torrent it just for The Scarecrow the song , Another Angel Down, and, uh Tobias Sammet has managed to produce some great metal, some average metal… and some completely gay crap.

It has been said that metal will die only when the bands that swaer to metal break up or defect from the ranks. With the aforementioned Helloween being perhaps the most famous example of this. Prices may vary for AK and HI.
AVANTASIA LYRICS – “The Scarecrow” () album
The title track is one of the closest things we have to the project’s original sound, for it features not only an epic chorus and pretty cool guitar riffs, but it also features some folk instruments and violins to give the song an old folksy feel.
The love you feel you waste away on me What kind of love will let us bleed away? Cellar Darling The Spell. Carry Me Over is a rather repetitive hard rock song that is enjoyable nonetheless. Tobias Sammet took many risks as he knew well that songs like “Carry me over” or “Lost in space” wouldn’t please to most of the fans but he considered musical progression and artistic ambitions more important than the fame and good critics.

From heavy metal over symphonic folk metal and even soft rock or new age pop music, this album offers a lot and maybe even too much for many fans that may miss the ghe dynamics of the past. Oh, yeah, they exist. Where Tobias Sammet goes from here is impossible to say, but one thing is abundantly clear — ‘The scarecrow’ is as far as he can go in his current mindset, the absolute most he can get away with.
The only way this could be less metal would be if Tobias donned a backwards cap and started busting rhymes about the ‘hood, but the song is just more or less a kind of sweet. This track has nothing to do with metal, rock or even normal pop music. Symphonic metalprogressive metalpower metal scaarecrow, hard rock. The remaining 8 songs, however, are scaeecrow or less all some form of heavy metal, and are all damn fine examples of it at that.

A song that’s fast and driving all the way through would be “Devil in the Belfry”, which is also a pretty cool song. The title track might just be the best song Tobias has scarercow penned, kicking off with a fresh, stirring Celtic melody and blossoming into a smashing clash of rattling, bone-shaking riffs, sophisticated orchestrations, and a vocal performance for the ages.
But The Scarecrow, in my humble opinion, will be forgotten in a year.
It includes a melodic and epic intro, fast double bass drumming, an amazing high pitched vocal performance by Kiske, a shining chorus, an outstanding guitar battle between Richter and Hansen and a fitting hard rock passage, with great vocals by Catley. As with other greats on this album, the mixture of a huge chorus, amazing tye, and great music is all here.
MP3 Music, January 1, “Please retry”. They sound like bad Bon Jovi wannabes. Also the riff at 3: Sammet has grown more and more with each consecutive release scarecrkw his inception, and this is an incredible leap forward in both instrumental mastery and songwriting talent.
Have one to sell? But the veterans put forth solid performances, too: What’s the story in this new album? I originally gave this a 65, but I listened to it again and puked, so I docked 20 points. It’s still got the heavy guitars that I daresay actually ruins the somber tone of the song.
You’ll never see through anyone else’s eyes And who am I to certify the sanity of a twisted mind A victim of perception, a twisted mind [x2] Missprizing — chastising Subhuman — fragmentizing Sensation — aberration Repulsive — tantalizing [Scarecrow Tobias Sammet 2x: It has many different kind of songs and that’s what makes it the best album of Avantasia for me!
I wasn’t expecting much from the DVD, so I wasn’t disappointed in the purchase. The only noteworthy thing about this illegitimate grab at the spotlight is that the CD — somehow — contrives to get even worse on the very next song. As well, the drums are scarectow step down from the joyously technical beatings of Alex Holzwarth. Chile I think this album is great!!!
