Dan Abnett became one of my favorite authors. Preview — Pariah by Dan Abnett. I tried several times to read through the series, I’d force myself to finish the first book and get about a third or halfway through the second and completely lose interest.

Perhaps the final point truly worthy of note as a serious failing is that, as a starting point, Pariah is very lacking in many regards. It honestly feels as if the main meat of the book is always taking place just out of sight and, much like a certain Deus Ex title, the actual protagonist seems all too superfluous to the actual story. I cannot dan abnett pariah for the follow-up and conclusion to this series.

I came rather late to the party, but the advantage of doing so was that I got to read the whole Eisenhorn trilogy over the span of a week or so. This has a lot to do with author Dan Abnett, who respects the property enough to write convincingly within it but always leaves it transformed, and with the property’s owner Games Workshop, who allow him the freedom to do so.

Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor returns to action to hunt the most dangerous enemy he has ever encountered, a disgraced inquisitor, driven by obsession to bind daemons to his will and consort with heretics. In Pariah he takes it all to an extreme. It’s abnety, but it’s a flash in the pan, and by the end of it you wish there was some food in the pan instead.

She’s the MacGuffin that’s shoved from plot point to plot point and never takes hold of her own destiny or controls the story.

The book is written like an introductory scene to a play: In essence this Ordos believes it can use the powers of the Warp against the Warp. One in particular, a rather famous enemy from Xenosemerges long after they should have in all rights been dan abnett pariah beaten. A fine opener to the final trilogy.
