Thanks for The Memories

Today I had the wonderful experience of receiving my first, handmade Mother’s Day card, from my eager three year old. I’d share a picture of it with you, however he drew it so gently and carefully, that you have to squint to clearly see the bunch of red flowers, sketched lightly on the front. Inside the card, a message. Not “Happy Mother’s Day”. No. Penned inside, in the neat handwriting of the nursery assistant, were the words,

Thank you for cooking my fish fingers!

That simple phrase had me laughing for nearly an hour, because it is true Big Bro style. No “I love you mummy”, or “you’re the best mummy in the world”. Instead, gratitude for feeding him his favourite food. And do you know what? I think that means more to me than anything else. Thank’s for the memories son!

I no longer have a mother to celebrate this day with, so I would like to wish every single mother out there, a wonderful mother’s day. You are all so very beautiful.
