At the end of this month, the other half is going to be 31. This is great for him because he still looks like he’s fresh out of high school, with the youthful baby-face of a 16 year old. For me it is a complete and utter nightmare because this man, is notoriously hard to buy gifts for. You know what it’s like – you ask them what they’d like and they say, “Oh you don’t have to get me anything, I have you that’s enough!” Outwardly you’re putting on your best “Why thank you darling.” smile, while on the inside you’re raging at his complete lack of interest in material possessions!
So while I was scrambling my brains and trawling the internet for something, anything that he might find interesting, I received a well-timed request from GiftsOnline4U, asking me if I’d review their website, dedicated to all things gift shaped – yet specialising in personalised gifts. Given the timing of the e-mail, I decided it must have been fate and graciously accepted their offer.
Initially the website appears to be easy on the eye – the colours are not too garish and in your face, making browsing a much more enjoyable experience. The site appears to be quite clearly categorised, enabling you hop instantly to pages listing gifts for a specific occasion, such as Birthday Presents, Valentines Day Gifts, Wedding Gifts, Personalised Gifts etc, and if you’re particularly picky, then in the sidebar there are options to search by price range and gift type – which is replicated along the top of the website.
The main focus of the products on this site, seems to be on personalised gifts in some form or another. For example there are gifts such as trinket boxes, pewter goblets, wine glasses and jewellery, to pick a few, which can be engraved with your own personal message, along with alcoholic drinks, whose labels can also be personalised with a unique note or slogan.
There is a fair amount of choice for both male and female targeted gifts – I specifically liked the idea of an engraved pocket watch – something like that would be well cherished. However, I did feel that that there could have been a section dedicated to more ‘alternative’ tastes – maybe “Geeky” or “Quirky Gifts”. Since we’re a nerdy house-hold, something like that would have been perfect, but that’s just my personal tastes.
Price & Payment
This is where I was pleasantly surprised. For a personalised gift, I was expecting the prices to be much higher than they were, yet there seems to be something on this site to cover all budgets. You can even get personalised chocolate bars for under £10, which I imagine would appeal to a lot of people, especially those with a sweet tooth. Looking at the payment options, you can pay using most major credit and debit cards, with an extra option of paying by PayPal – something not all websites offer.
This company offers free delivery in the UK, which if you’re like me and hate that pesky added charge when you go to check out, is a massive bonus. There is also an option to have your order delivered the next day, which requires calling the company before placing your order AND before 2pm, to obtain a code and special instructions, which cover the speedier delivery costs involved. In the FAQ section, it doesn’t mention whether there is an extra charge for the next day delivery, so it’s probably a good idea to clarify during the call.
Really not bad at all! If you’re stuck for gift ideas, and want to add a personal touch to it, then this website would suit your needs well. With a range of gifts to suit most tastes and occasions and a decent price range, with free delivery, you will most likely find something to your liking.
